Altus Cafe is a wonderful asset in the Washington Heights area. Located at 4325 Broadway just off 184th Street is a nice clean fun place to dine, as you walk in you feel a great energetic place. With a sleek decor in black and white Bistro style it has a second floor, I would recommend to sit upstairs if possible for some people watching.
The staff is friendly nice tall lean men and women I venture to say they are from the neighborhood and is great they can communicate with the costumers either in English or Spanish.
Start with the pitcher of white sangria, is very flavorful with hint of peach at $36.00 dollars a pitcher it is a great value for two.
The food is great and the flavors are just superb. We had the Demi-Lune Ravioli shrimp and crabmeat with a red pepper Sauce garnished with a Balsamic reduction.
Organic Crispy Calamari served with a Ginger marinara sauce subtle savory flavor.
Followed by Baby spinach salad with bleu cheese , grilled corn, shitake mushrooms with roasted shallot balsamic reduction.
Main entree’s were a succukent tender veal chop served with a three color fingerling potato in tarragon demi- glaze sauce and a beautiful churrasco cooked to a perfect medium rare servedwith housemade yuca fries and shitake mushroom basil sauce.
I highly reccomend that you venture to the heights and experience this wonderful fusion cuisine, it is worth the trip a perfect marriage of latin and old world cuisine in a perfect setting.
